Just a few of the wolves killed this year with the Idaho wolf tag. They sure do look cuddly and cute. If you are going into the Blues, Cascades, or north of Spokane hiking, game scouting, mushroom hunting, or something else you better start carrying a side arm. Can you even imagine being out by yourself and having 8 to 12 of these monsters surround you! Think about what kind of appetite a dozen of these must have and remember they are the only predator in our nation that kills for fun along with for food. The amount of animals they take are just a partial portion of what they need to eat. When elk are calving they will kill the calves just for fun after they have had all they can eat and leave the rest to rot.

As frighting as the notion of meeting these guys in the wild may be most of what you’re posting is fear mongering. Those wolves were not taken in Idaho…a very quick Google search shows this.

Also, you seem to have a lot of knowledge about wolves so I must ask…when was the last time a human was killed by wolves? How about a wolf attack even? According to the above link (and I’ll take their word over yours) there has only been one documented wolf attack in the U.S. Lets compare that to the domestic dogs everyone love so much, compare livestock kills as well…you might be surprised.
Oops! You’re right. This came to me via email and I just spammed it onto this blog.
Glad to hear these were the words of someone else and not yours. Impressive animals regardless of where they came from.
[…] about it back them. I forgot all about that article until recently when I was sent the photos of wolves taken in Idaho. I think those have been proven bogus by Snopes.com. Then, I went to go see “The […]
I would also like to add, even though I’ve read they weren’t your words, that wolves are not the only predator in North America that kills for fun. What about the worse predator of all, that kills for fun, for the sake of “art” or for sport? HUMANS! I wonder… the guy that wrote those things about wolves seems to justify killing the poor creatures just because they are big and they can kill you for fun. Would he be willing to kill people for the same reasons?
I believe all predators kill for fun – cats certainly do. It makes sense for them to kill when they don’t need to eat, because opportunities to get prey don’t always present themselves when they are going to be hungry.
